Baby Gift

The surest way to get an arched eyebrow response is to show up at a gift giving event carrying a paint can. I love it!

I have a friend who just had a baby, so I spent my Friday night scrapbooking night making a baby gift for her, thanks to inspiration from Heather Summers. I was able to use up quite a bit of my leftover retired Simply Scrappin’ Baby Boy kit from last year. Hooray for using up old supplies and thus making room for new stuff!

First I covered the paint can with two different types of coordinating designer series paper from the kit. I adhered the paper to the can with sticky strip. A hint to get the paper around those pesky handles – use your 1″ circle punch at the spot where the handles go and just cut a straight line from the edge of the paper to the circle. Then you can wrap the circle around the handle.

To finish the can I attached a coordinating ribbon to the paper seam with glue dots. I used a compass to draw a circle the size of the lid and cut that out to cover the top of the paint can. Then I just had to stuff it with a few items from her baby registry and, of course, a coordinating baby scrapbook.
