Disney Scrapbook

I love working for Stampin’ Up! – it’s a great, supportive company. One of the things that they offer is a chance to earn an incentive trip each year. Many years these are cruises or resort stays, the past few years have been Caribbean cruises, a stay on the big island of Hawaii and a cruise to Alaska. The next trip that demonstrators can earn is a trip to Disney World. I’d really like to earn this trip – it will be a fabulous vacation for my growing family.

Want to learn more about all the perks that come with being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator? I’ll be holding an opportunity night on Thursday September 23rd at 7PM. I’ll talk a little about working for Stampin’ Up!, answer any questions, we’ll make a cool project, and then enjoy snacks while watching the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy in my new stamp room! There’s no cost to attend and no pressure to join Stampin’ Up! Just come for an evening of fun!

Stampin’ Up! is having a contest for demonstrators on the demonstrator-only site, Stampin’ Connection. We had to design a project based on our favorite Disney characters or ride. I made this a scrapbook for my entry, I plan to use it to easily store photos and memorabilia from the trip. I’ll keep it on my desk for now and it can serve as a motivator to help me earn the trip.

Here’s my scrapbook and the recipe in case you want to make one yourself:

Cardstock: Real Red (9-1/4″ x 4-3/4″, scored at 1″ and 2″ along the 9-1/4″ side), Basic Black (6-1/4″ x 4-3/4″), scraps of Real Red, Basic Black, and Confetti White Cardstock.

Ink: Real Red Classic Ink.

Stamps: Afterthoughts Hostess Set

Fold your Real Red cardstock on the 2″ score line. Run the Basic Black cardstock through your Big Shot using the Backgrounds I Texturz Plate to add embossed dots to the background. Use Sticky Strip to attach this cover to your Real Red cardstock.

Remove the adhesive liner from a clear envelope and place the envelope inside your book to form a pocket sleeve. Repeat for as many pages as you’d like, stacking each envelope on top of one another. The adhesive from the envelopes will hold them together. Use your 1/16″ handheld punch to punch holes in the spine of the scrapbook and use Glimmer Brads to fasten the spine. This will ensure that your envelopes stay inside the album.

For the Mickey balloons, use the Circle Scissors Plus and your glass mat to cut out the Basic Black and Confetti White circles. Use your 1-3/8″ and 3/4″ circle punches to make Mickey and Minnie. Stamp “It’s a Celebration” from the Afterthoughts stamp set in Real Red and punch it out using your Modern Label Punch. To make the red Modern Label mat, use your Big Shot and the Modern Label die from the Movers and Shakers set – these are great to layer with the punches! Punch out another modern label piece in Real Red and use that to make the “ties” for the balloons.

For Minnie’s bow, I took a piece of Very Vanilla 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and dragged it across my Real Red stamp pad. This dyed the ribbon so that it would be Minnie’s signature color. I added polkadots by dipping my stylus into the Frost White Shimmer Paint and then dabbing it on the ribbon.

Finally, I finished the balloons with a little bit of linen thread. I used SNAIL and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere all the pieces to the front of my album. I can’t wait to earn the trip so I can fill my mini scrapbook with memories!
