Smell My Feet

For the most part, I’m excited to watch my littlest child grow. I love that he’s left the baby stage and is a little human with his own opinions. I especially love that he finally has a few words to help me know what he wants. Sure beats the scream-communication method that he’s been mastering the past few months.

But as he grows, I get a little nostalgic when I have to remove the too-small clothing from his closet. I save favorite outfits for a quilt I’ll make someday and pass on the still-wearable items to other families to enjoy. But sometimes I stumble across something that I just can’t get rid off, yet don’t have a use for, like Halloween baby socks. They make me smile just to look at them. But they don’t fit any feet in the house, and I’m a practical lady. I can’t just keep a pair of socks around because they make me smile. Or can I?

I have a shadowbox frame that’s been hanging on the wall, empty, for almost a year now. I couldn’t decide what to put in it. Tonight I pulled that shadowbox down, got out some of my Wicked Fun Halloween Designer Series Paper (like it? It’s on the Clearance Rack!), cut out some scary font letters with my Cameo, and created a piece of seasonal artwork with those cute little socks.

Now they can live on and brighten my house for the entire month of October for years to come!
