LunchTime Love Note – Apple Core Punch Art

Today’s joke (bad, but hopefully funny to my first-grader):

Why did the apple cry?
Because his peelings were hurt.

Sadly, most of the items I used in today’s card are retired. But hopefully you have them in your crafting stash so you can remake this card at home!

World Card Making Day – Operation Write Home BlogHop

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog today for World Card Making Day. I’m participating in Operation Write Home’s annual bloghop. Love OWH – such a great organization. When I’m making cards for myself I always try to make a second (or third or fourth) one to add to the box I’m sending off soon. The cards go to soldiers so that they can send a little homemade love back home.

The theme for this year’s BlogHop is “Thanks”, so I knew immediately that I’d use my “Another Thank You” photopolymer stamp set. It’s one of my current favorites! I had originally planned to use the large “Thank You” stamp from the set, but once I looked through the OWH templates, my heart was set on using Sketch #89 so I changed to one of the smaller stamps in the set. Of course, I had to modify the sketch some to make it “mine”.

Here’s the sketch:

And here’s what I came up with:

Thank You Card - Stampin' Up!

When I saw the stripes in the sketch, I knew I’d be using the Stylish Stripes Embossing folder to create the striped look. Using the Early Espresso Core’dinations paper and some light sanding gives it even more texture. I embossed the greeting for an added pop of shine.

I used the darker colors to give the card a more masculine feel, but couldn’t resist adding in the little heart.

Thanks again for visiting my site. Head off to enjoy more of the bloghop, but come back again soon!

LunchTime Love Note – Yoshi Punch Art

My guy’s birthday is coming up, so today I made him a card with his favorite Mario Bros. character on it. I must have done okay, because when my husband was unpacking the lunchbox tonight he said “That’s a good Yoshi!”

Birthday Donuts

I had planned to make cupcakes to take to my oldest son’s class to celebrate his upcoming birthday, but he surprised me by saying that he wanted to take donuts instead. I already had the cupcakes baked when he made that decision, so I think we’ll be sugar overloaded by the end of the weekend eating all of them up!

I like his teacher and didn’t want to subject her to the pandemonium that full-sized donuts would cause, so I decided to send the little Hostess mini donettes instead. To make them easy for my son to pass out, I packed each one up individually. Hopefully that kept the sticky, messy fingers to a minimum.

LunchTime Love Note – Leaf Punch Art

I feel a little like I cheated with this punch art card. I used one of my Sizzix Dies (Autumn Accents), so all I had to do was run the cardstock through my Big Shot and my “art” was done. I did add some shading by sponging on Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, and Crushed Curry. I was still finished in under a minute!

The joke inside read:
What did the big brother leaf say to his little brother?
“Leaf” me alone!
